Abstract
INFORMAL COMMUNICATIONS ABSEL NEWS AND NOTES Jerry Gosenpud University of Wisconsin- Whitewater ABSEL News and Notes was formed as Simulation & Games became the official journal of ABSEL in 1982. Its purpose has been to give ABSEL members the opportunity to present news and views concerning business simulation and experiential exercise theory and practice. Therefore, member contribution is encouraged and can be sent in the form of short articles, position papers, requests for information, or letters. TRENDS IN ABSEL PAPERS The purposes of this report are to explain how topics covered in the 1986 ABSEL meeting differ from those in past meetings and to show trends in topics covered by ABSEL papers over the years. The method was to compare numbers of papers delivered in a given year on a given topic over seven of the last eight years. As indicated in the following table, four topics were covered: (1) microcomputers, (2) decision support systems and data bases, (3) evaluations of teaching approaches (usually comparisons of experiential and simulation approaches with other kinds of pedologies) and (4)
