Abstract
ABOUT THE AUTHORS DONALD AUSTER is Professor of Sociology at St. Lawrence University. His interests are in sex roles and occupations. He is currently working on a theoretical framework for sex-discrepant occupations and on a study of women who enter occupations sex- typed as male. STANLEY C. CLARK is a Research Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Liverpool, England. His areas of interest are urban sociology and the analysis of class imagery. He has just completed a study of the latter topic with the coauthors of the article in this issue. FREDERICK G. COOK is currently a Research Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Liverpool. His disser- tation and subsequent research interest has been on white-collar work and trade unionism. ELLEN GREENBERGER is a Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Irvine. DANIEL R. GOLDMAN is an Associate Professor in the De- partment of Sociology and Anthropology at Wilkes College, Wilkes- Barre, Pennsylvania. MARGARET MOONEY MARINI is a Research Scientist at the Population Study Center of the Battelle Human Affairs Research Center in Seattle, Washington. KENNETH ROBERTS is a Lecturer in the Department of Soci- ology at the University of Liverpool. While
