Abstract
ABOUT THE AUTHORS ROBERT E. ALLEN is a professor of management at the University of Wyoming, where he has served as chair of the Department of Business Administration, director of the M.B.A. program, and associate dean of the College of Business. He has published a number of articles and has coauthored two books. His current research focuses on organizational aggression, em- ployee involvement programs, and the performance appraisal process. Recent teaching assignments include labor relations, managerial negotiations and conflict resolution, compensation theory, and business ethics. He has arbitrated more than 250 labor disputes and has served as an expert witness in a number of cases. BARBARA A. CARLIN received her Ph.D. in man- agement from the University of Texas at Austin. She has served on the faculties at Georgia State University, the University of Georgia, and Southern Methodist University and is currently senior consultant for the management consulting firm Baker & Company in Dallas, Texas. Prior to receiving her doctorate, Barbara Carlin was a computer programmer and systems ana- lyst for IBM, Motorola, and American Express.
