Miss Gibbs has long been an active member of MENC committees on class piano instruction and more recently has acted as chairman of the piano division in MTNA. We suspect that As a textbook for courses in hymnody offered in colleges and seminaries, this work has several things to recommend it. Perhaps its most outstanding feature is the inclusion within the text of 160 hymns which were selected for illustrative purposes of the contents. The author approaches his subject from a historical point of view.
