ABSTRACT-Absorbed doses were measured in rads (tissue) in 10 females undergoing mammography by the Egan technique. The patients were selected at random, and no attempt was made to correlate the data with breast type. To compare these data with those of Gilbertson, the latter must first be converted from exposure in air (R) to absorbed dose in tissue (rads) by multiplying by 0.92 rads (tissue)/R for the energies used in the technique proposed by Egan. When this conversion is made, the two sets of data agree within the statistical limits of the experiments.
