Some limitations of teacher ratings as predictors of creativity
Abstract
The average intercorrelations of 12 teacher rating scales were .64 for 783 boys and .59 for 394 girls in a large national sample of high ability high school seniors. The ratings on Maturity, selected as the most representative, were correlated with a variety of personality, achievement, and background variables. The highest correlations were with academic achievement (.35). The results are discussed in relation to the findings from other studies. "Only a limited reliance on teacher ratings as predictors of creativity appears desirable." From Psyc Abstracts 36:01:1KH19H.
