Abstract
The provision of services to informal caregivers, such as family, friends, and neighbors, in rural areas provides unique challenges for professional psychologists. The Telehelp Line for Caregivers, a clinical telehealth multicomponent intervention for rural caregivers is described. Supportive services and resources through the Telehelp Line for Caregivers were provided during structured telephone counseling sessions. Caregiver knowledge, problem-solving skills, and help-seeking behavior and affect were the major components addressed. An eight-session structured telephone intervention and a call-in helpline was available. All components were available but tailored to individual participants based on caller presenting concerns and assessed needs. The benefits of a telehealth intervention for rural caregivers are addressed, as well as issues related to the applicability of telehealth services in professional practice.Preview Only.
