Nondirective treatment of a conditioned motor block

Abstract

The symptom in a college senior was severe blockage in signing his name. Although feeling inferior, he was a popular leader with a friendly, ingratiating manner. Through nondirective counseling he readjusted quickly and gained control of the symptom without any concentrated attack on the motor habit. Interpretations of the conflict and implications for learning theory are discussed. 26 references.
