Abstract
Presented 48 undergraduates with CVC syllables and tested memory for the syllables using forced-choice recognition and free-recall tests. Large long-term recency effects were found on the free-recall tests but not on the recognition tests. Results disconfirm the decay hypothesis and support the suggestion that long-term recency is due to using contextually based retrieval cues on the free-recall test. (11 ref)Preview Only.
