Abstract

<p>In the article “Type A Behavior Pattern and Emotion Expression in Younger and Older Adults,” by Carol Malatesta-Magai, Ruth Jones, Beth Shepard, and L. Clayton Culver ( Psychology and Aging , 1992, Vol. 7, No. 4, pp. 551–561), the authors inadvertently failed to include a citation of the important work of sociologist Thomas J. Scheff, who was the first to publish evidence of a link between Type A behavior pattern and shame. The reference is “Emotion and Illness: Anger, Bypassed Shame and Heart Disease,” 1992, Perspectives on Social Problems , 3, 117–134.</p>
