Hans Kohn (1891^1971 .The Multifaceted ) Contributions of a Political Philosopher Leo Baeck InstituteYear Book Vol. 55, 251^254 Advance Access publication 9 September 2010 doi:10.1093/lbyb/ybq022 The articles published in the following section of the Leo Baeck Institute Y earbook result from an international conference on the âLegacy of Hans Kohnâ that took place on 11/12 March 2009 at the Franz-Rosenzweig-Minerva Research Center at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. It was co-organised by Steven E. Aschheim, Yfaat Weiss (both from the Hebrew University) and ChristianWiese (University of Sussex), in cooperation with Ulrich Bielefeld (Institut fur Sozialforschung in « Hamburg) and the Leo Baeck Institute in London, and was devoted to a critical re-assessment of the life and work of the Prague-born dissenting Zionist and well-known historian of nationalism, Hans Kohn (1891^1971). The fact that a group of eight scholars from Israel, the USA, Germany and the UK explored a variety of facets of Kohnâs political thought, including his theory of nationalism in general and his interpretation of Zionism in particular, is indicative of the astonishing renaissance his work has witnessed in recent years.
