ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION TO DEXTRAN
Abstract
Abstract A case is reported in which an anaphylactic reaction occurred in a healthy 18-year-old girl in association with the infusion of 7 ml of dextran. Although this complication is very rare, it is important to be aware of the possibility. It is suggested that rapid infusion of plasma or whole blood, rather than the use of vasoconstrictor drugs, is the treatment of choice in this situation. © John Sherratt and Son Ltd.
