Abstract
Book Review Book Review Introduction T here are times when I wish I could be a fly on the wall watching a master clinician conduct an office visit with an obese patient. Over time those of us who care for these people develop an approach to counseling with which we are comfortable. However, because of the challenges inherent in trying to assist obese patients manage their weight, most of us are not comfortable that we have all the answers and are curious about how other experienced clinicians approach the care of these patients. We all deal with the time constraints associated with the usual office visit, issues of how to facilitate and maintain behavior change, and how to efficiently tailor a message to the individual needs of particular patients. There are many potential behavior changes that could be discussed, but what will really make a difference? This book by Robert Kushner and colleagues directly addresses these challenges. Dr. Kushner is a master clinician and this book provides a roadmap for care providers in his approach to advising overweight and obese patients.
