Abstract
Point An American Board of Pediatrie and Immunology WILLIAM A. Allergy HOWARD, M.D. of a new journal devoted to pediatrie asthma, allergy, and members of the Section on Allergy and Immunology of the American and other pediatricians certified by the American Board of Allergy and Academy Immunology, a Conjoint Board of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Pediatrics (ABAI) are being ushered into a new era in the future of our specialty. At a time when there is an increasing tendency toward fragmentation of pediatrie care, this journal meets, at least in part, the urgent need to define and strengthen the pediatrie allergist's role in the evaluation and care of the allergic child. Certification in pediatrie allergy has a long and honorable history. Our founding members, including such luminaries as Bret Ratner, Lewis Webb Hill, William C. Dearmer, Jerome Glaser, William P. Buffum, James C. Overall, Susan Dees, and George Logan, recognized very early the need for guidelines in the training of pediatrie allergists, as well as methods for evaluating the results of such training.
