In this paper, characteristics of the portable BEEF frame system are described. BEEF – and frame systems in general – are presened as powerful object-oriented programming tools. Their use as the implementation vehicle of distributed problem-solving systems is especially advocated. An analogy between object-oriented message passing and a method for distributing problem solving intelligence is emphasized.
