Abstract
Welcome to the 14th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Surgical Research he Academy of Surgical Research (ASR) is an international multidisciplinary organization that was founded in 1982. The main mandate of the ASR is as follows: A. Encourage, foster, promote, and advance professional and academic standards, education, research, and development in the arts and sciences of experimental surgery. B. Promote, initiate, support, and accomplish academic and practical educational programs, cooperative research, and advancement in experimental surgery in the public interest. C. Promote humane use and treatment of experimental animals and prevent their use when other means can achieve the desired scientific goals. D. Cooperate with medical organizations, scientific organizations, government agencies, and other interested parties in establishing and reviewing ethics, theories, practices, and research pertaining to surgery and promotion of the results of surgical research for clinical application. The Jotlrnal oflnvestigative Surgey (JIS) is the official journal of the Academy of Surgical Research, and its mandate is to publish peer-reviewed scientific articles for the advancement of surgery to the ultimate benefit of patient care and rehabilitation.
