York District Hospital Introduction The author describes his experience as a participant in an international course in the training of teachers in general medical practice. The course was the third of a series held at the Inter-universities Centre of Postgraduate Studies, Dubrovnik, 22-26 April, 1985. Within the United Kingdom the value of residential courses at both local and national levels is taken for granted. There are few narrative accounts of such activities at international level. The construction of the module formed an important part of the international course and this paper is a descriptive analysis of the module. The analysis is largely subjective and is written from the particular standpoint of an experienced United Kingdom Course Organiser for the Vocational Training for General Practice. The paper leads to conclusions which may have wide application.
