Climacteric and the IMS–‘A Mission Statement’
Abstract
CLIMACTERIC 2009;12:1â2 Editorial Climacteric and the IMS â âA Mission Statementâ Nick Panay and Anna Fenton Climacteric, The Journal of Adult Womenâs Health and Medicine is the ofï¬cial journal of the International Menopause Society (IMS). As such, it is the voice of the Society and draws its strength from the diverse members of the Society. It is precisely the global inï¬uence of the Editorial Board and other IMS members that gives Climacteric its unique position of strength. It was a natural progression that, in August 2004, Climacteric was made freely available to IMS members online. It was also important that, in 2006, the number of issues increased from four to six, as this improved the responsiveness of the journal to current events and research. The previous Editors-in-Chief, Alastair MacLennan and David Sturdee, left the journal in a very healthy state of affairs at the end of 2007. It is the mission of the new Editors-in-Chief to build on these solid foundations and go forward by optimizing communication with health professionals. We believe that the symbiotic relationship of the journal with the IMS can facilitate this aim. In October 2005, an important decision was taken to remove the fee
