Yet, it is much in evidence in these two works. It is unusual to read books back to back that take such divergent approaches to a subject and yet seem to arrive at a very similar message. In this case, the message is that inclusion is about contradiction and challenge and that to move towards it requires all concerned to question and explore. However, in the manner of presenting their conclusion the two authors also encapsulate a marked difference that reflects their divergent approaches. Whereas Norwich is invoking us to seek 'balances', Allan is urging us to 'continue to puzzle over it together'. I feel sure that both these authors
