Herzog, MD, is a well-known name in the field of eating-disorder treatments. He began working with this patient population more than 30 years ago as a resident in pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin. In 1980 he opened the Massachusetts General Hospital Eating Disorders Unit, later renamed the Harris Center. Today Dr. Herzog is an endowed professor in the field of eating disorders at Harvard Medical School and director of the Harris Center. Debra L. Franko, PhD, was invited to join the Harvard Eating Disorders Center in 1998, after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital with Dr. Herzog. Her interest in eating disorders began when she volunteered on an adolescent psychiatric unit while doing undergraduate work at the University of Michigan. She is a professor in the Department of Counseling and Applied Educational Psychology at Northeastern University and the associate director of the Harris Center. Pat Cable, RN, is director of publications at the Harris Center for Education and Advocacy in Eating Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital.
