Kicliard Blessingâs study of Koethke is certainly the best commentary yet to appear o n the iiiaii John Berryman called the Garden Master. Lest anyone think that such praise is damnably faint-after all, there are only two books o u t on Koetlike, though others are soon to appearâ-I hasten to add that I think Theodore Roethkeâs Dynamic Vision is one of the very best studies we now have on the âprogramâ of any of our modern poets. What Koethke was u p t o (and for such a groper in the unconscious he seems to have understood his purposes with ile as the effigies they describe. rlâliro~~gli rhyme, the third line offers its arm to the second as they iiiove in iambic ~~roccssion.
