The Unwritten Books and Papers of J. M. Keynes Correspondence may be addressed to Rod O’hnnell, School of Economic and Financial Studies, Macquarie University, Sydney, New South Wales 2109, Australia. This paper was presented in 1991 to the History of Economics Society meeting at the University of Maryland, and the History of Economic Thought Society of Australia Conference at Monash University. I am indebted to Peter Groenewegen, Roy Rotheim, Thomas Rymes, Warren Young and two anonymous referees for helpful comments, and to Rosemary Graham for proofreading the typed copy of Keynes’s manuscripts. I should also like to thank the Australian Research Council for financial assistance, King’s College Cambridge and David Papineau for permitting quotation from Keynes’s unpublished writings and photographic reproduction, and the British Library for assistance regarding the Keynes-Macmillan correspondence. 1. Most of the unknown items were discovered by the author in an uncatalogued and apparently overlooked box in the Keynes Papers at King’s College in late 1989 and early 1990. It is unlikely that any other such boxes remain at King’s. All unpublished material referred to in this paper will appear in The Collected fhilosophicafand Other Writingso J. M . Keynes, f a multivolume edition in preparation by the author.
