We recently have lost three stellar scholars of early modern Spanish literature: Elias L. Rivers, Julián Valbuena, and Thomas A. Lathrop. The theater was a part of the widereaching agenda of each of these luminaries, and Bulletin of the Comediantes would like to recognize their research, their service to the profession, and their consummate teaching skills. They generously shared their knowledge with us, and they touched many lives. We have asked Emilie L. Bergmann (University of California, Berkeley), Susana Hernández Araico (Emerita, California State Polytechnic Institute, Pomona), and James A. Parr (University of California, Riverside) to write tributes to our colleagues and friends, who will remain in our memories and whose works will remain on our bookshelves and in our classes. We remember Elias, Julián, and Tom with love and affection. EHF Bulletin of the Comediantes · 2014 Vol. 66 No. 1 ix
