Six papers were presented at WBT-2001 along with a keynote address by Dr. Evelyn Duesterwald. (The final program may be found at http:llreeerca.ae.upc.eslpactOllwbt2OOl.pdf, and short versions of the papers can be found in the Fall'2001 IEEE TCCA Newsletter.) The papers at this year's workshop covered a wide variety of areas including code optimization, security, static and dynamic compilation techniques, and means of encoding information needed by a binary translator. Dr. Evelyn Duesterwald of Hewlett Packard Labs in Cambridge, Massachusetts, provided an inspiring talk in her keynote presentation on the arguments for and against dynamic compilation. She reflected her experience working on the Dynamo project, and laid out a number of challenges that will have to be overcome if dynamic compilation is to become a reality
