It can be a peculiar experience to revisit something one wrote (or co-wrote) a long time ago. Reading the Systems Journal article again after the passage of more than a decade aroused a jumble of thoughts and memories. Along with other things, the titles of Dumas' sequels Ten Years Later and Twenty Years After floated up into my consciousness. Not that there's much parallel between the romantic world of Dumas and our all-too-realistic and decidedly non-swashbuckling profession; but the echoes rang faintly, nonetheless.
