Trip Report Usability Foresight: Strategic Usability Planning A Special InterestGroup Meeting Report Alan J. Happ ABSTRACT This is the report of a Special Interest Group (SIG) meeting on Usability Foresight held at CHI '92. The discussion focused on how to set meaningful priorities for human factors/usability research into human-computer interactions. This report describes the method presented and summarizes the results of a hands-on activity completed during the meeting. INTRODUCTION The Purpose of the SIG than usability. If you were given the opportunity to direct research into the human-computer interactions (HCI) of future products, what would you do, what would you measure, and why? Usability professionals know the problem as being called in at the last minute to test a product for usability just before it is shipped. Developers recognize the problem as having to deal with usability professionals who only reveal problems that can't be fixed in the current release.
