ABOUT THE COVER There is So Much More to the SIGGRAPH Conference Than Tired Feet Hans Westman Computer Graphics Cover Editor The annual SIGGRAPH conference is a big deal. Having recently returned to the states after living abroad for many years, I first heard about ACM SIGGRAPH through Bonnie Hammer, a person I met while working at getting reestablished professionally in the US. Introductions were made to Pamela Thompson, who was at that time responsible for organizing a Career Boot Camp to take place somewhere in downtown LA. I went, we met and it was great. There were hundreds of students and professionals from all over Southern California that had come to listen to the panel she had pulled together, big name CGI industry professionals, talking about their monumental Hollywood projects, the reality of stark competition and high demands and despite everything, about how it was all worth the personal effort. The audience left elated and ready to push on. Soon the SIGGRAPH conference was happening, that year in Los Angeles. Bonnie and I met up, had lunch and we talked at length about industry related topics. Out on the floors of the conference, I was
