The Summary of the Discussionof the Review of the Book that Don Wrote.... JasonGood During October 1994, an email discussion was held on the students.chi mailing list prompted by John Waterworth's review of Don Norman's recent book 'Things That Make Us Smart' [1] (referred to hereafter as TTMUS) that appeared in that month's issue of SIGCHI Bulletin [2]. Others wiser than me suggested that it would be interesting to summarise the discussion for other members of SIGCHI, but they didn't have time to do it at the moment - so I volunteered to enter the breech. This article appears so long after the discussion took place for two main reasons: first, the non-linear manner in which an email discussion takes place makes condensing one into a linear artide rather difficult. If and when the SIGCHI Bulletin becomes electronic and hypertext articles can be included, this may become easier!
