Many organizations have very elaborate techniques for selecting new employees. Most of these are screening processes to select applicants who will eventually be given the opportunity of an interview with a program project manager or supervisor. This interview is frequently the final determining factor in the selection process of a new computer programmer. Unless the interview is conducted in a manner that is both fair and revealing, a course of action will be begun that will be difficult to change at a later time. With the cost of personnel now being the most expensive item in program development projects, this personnel selection decision is now more critical than ever before.
