SURVEY OF DESIGN AUTOMATION IN UNIVERSITIES. by W.M. vanCleemput Dept of Computer Science University of Waterloo Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. INTRODUCTION. Since Design Automation within the university, is beginning to emerge as a discipline SIGDA (the Special Interest Group on Design for Computing Machinery) decided to Automation of the Association conduct a survey of Design Automation activities in Universities. (vol 4, A questionnaire was published in the SIGDA Newsletter no S) in September In addition, 1974. a mailing list of about 200 people working on Design Automation in a university environment was collected. The response questionnaires I00 researchers to the survey was gratifying. A total of 39 was returned, covering the activities of almost in 32 different institutions.
