The committee decided not to review any further local variable proposals in committee until voted to do otherwise. Work is also progressing currently on multitasking and error handling. A "hot list" of topics is included at the end of this column. Several proposals are in hand for vocabularies. Elizabeth Rather and FORTH Inc. would like to see vocabularies go away (and has submitted a proposal as such). I and the majority of users I have surveyed would like to see them much stronger. Rather claims that vocabularies cannot be used in both a transportable and a useful manner. I contend otherwise, that there is a useful m i n i m u m that at least allows switching between vocabularies. I have also proposed that the ONLY ALSO word set be standardized. I need more input as to w h a t the community would like on this. Listed below is a list of some of the passed and failed proposals/words. This is not a complete list.
