Internet data remains one of the basic components of computer science network research. Despite its necessity, available data is limited by legal, social, and technical constraints on its collection and distribution. To maximize use of existing data, CAIDA has developed DatCat to disseminate information about datasets. DatCat was sponsored by the Advanced Networking Infrastructure program and the Office of Cyberinfrastructure at the National Science Foundation. The goals of DatCat include: ¢ to provide a searchable index of available data ¢ to enhance documentation of datasets via a public annotation
