Scientific Visualization at the University of Leeds R.A. Earnshaw This article summarises the current plans and activities of the Scientific Visualization Group at the University. It also provides a brief report of an open seminar at the University of Leeds on 22 January 1992, that was attended by 150 people. Scientific Visualization Group at the University of Leeds An inter-departmental group in the University of Leeds has existed since October 1990 and has had bi-monthlymeetings devoted to progressing on a work plan in the area of scientific visualization and to disseminating information on current developments in the field, particularly in universities, supercomputer eentres, and research organisations in the USA. Its aim is to enable users to exploit more effectively the power and capabilities of the advanced workstations and supercomputer that were recently installed in the University of Leeds. What does the Scientific Visualization Group do ? The Scientific Visualization Group at the University of Leeds was formed on 2 October 1990 with the following objectives: ¢ Get the most out of new computing equipment, such as the Silicon Graphics workstations and Silicon Graphics supercomputer ¢ Coordinate developments that may be required in the area ¢ Exchange experiences in
