BOOK REVIEW 18 August 1982 Implementing Functions: Microprocessors and Firmware Edited by: L. Richter, P. Le Beux, G. Choust and G. Noguez Reviewed by: Charles Neuhauser, Palyn Associates, Inc. 4100 Moorpark Avenue San Jose, Ca. 95117 Background This book contains a selection of papers presented at the seventh EUROMICRO Symposium held on September 8 - i0, 1981 in Paris. Two-thirds of the approximately I00 authors were affiliated with academic institutions while the remainder were from industry. Research and practice from nearly every European country and the U. S. is represented in these papers. English. All papers are published in excellent Scope The initial problem with conducting a review of this book is In addition to the rather narrow the wide range of topics covered. field of "micro-programming", (e.i.. firmware, emulation etc.) the EUROMICRO group is interested in the almost limitless field of micro-processors (e.g. Z80, 8086) and their applications. On the assumption that the readers of SIGMICRO would acquire the book primarily for its coverage of the former area, I will limit my comments to those papers which are related (at least indirectly) to micro-programming. These papers represent about one-third of the 47 papers presented at the conference.
