Programming training will improve their multimedia representation, even when they use software packages. It will also enlarge the possibility of new interactive multimedia art over the internet. We propose course materials to teach programming by Java, which have been applied to a programming course in the Department of Information Design. 1. Introduction The Department of Information Design aims to educate students so that they can represent their ideas by combining visual and audio information. The representation has not only digital media form but also traditional art form, for example painting and photographs. Therefore, students in this department must have both artistic and computing skills to create and author their works.
