The successful development of a product demands that product performance objectives be clearly defined and agreed to as early as possible during the product development cycle, typically during the product requirements phase. Unless clearly defined and uniformly understood, performance objectives can be subject to varied interpretation as product nears completion. Why? Because all parties (e.g., Product Marketing, Product Management, and Product Development) involved have their own performance perspective. How to clearly define the product performance objectives would be the thrust of this note.
