This study examines the role computer-meditated communication (CMC) can play in helping students with disabilities minimize social isolation and other barriers they face in achieving academic goals. Subjects are high school students with disabilities. Data was collected from electronic mail exchanges, questionnaires, and focus groups. Results suggest CMC can ease social isolation and advance the academic goals of students with disabilities by connecting them to a community of their peers.
