This meeting was held to focus the attention of the research and development community on the problem of scheduling Space Station Freedom (SSF) payloads. Responsibility for payload scheduling belongs to the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). In order to help integrate the scheduling research community with the user community at MSFC, the meeting was organized with a different focus for each of the three days. Day one gave a NASA-wide view of all organizations and processes that affect the scheduling performed at NASA MSFC and the performance of payloads in orbit. Day two focused specifically on requirements as communicated by timeline engineers (the users) and the customer at NASA MSFC. Day three focused on the research and development that is necessary in order to achieve the required capabilities. The purpose of the first day was
