REPORT Notes on a CM Seminar Phyllis Col e Stanford Research Institut e Adele Goldber g Xerox Corporation -- Palo Alto Research Cente r Palo Alto, Californi a As CAI usage grows, face-to-face contacts of persons in the field ar e needed to foster program exchanges, diverse pedagogical approaches, an d software/courseware compatibility . While formal CAI conferences minimall y serve such functions, more frequent and informal gatherings can bette r stimulate a flow of information . These views led to an informal meeting of CAI users, researchers, an d developers in the San Francisco Bay area in July 1972 . A proposal for a monthly get together to discuss topics of interest was met with enthusiasm , and the CAI Seminar has conjoined regularly since . The still-growing mailin g list has over 100 names ; about 40-60 persons attend each session . A summar y of the professional affiliations of the participants is given in Table 1 t o indicate the diversity of groups attracted to the meetings . Table 1 .
