Modelling Adaptive Interaction of OPADE by Petri Nets Berardina De Carolis and Fiorella de Rosis 1. Introduction OPADE 1 is a project aimed at prototyping and evaluating an intelligent, multilingual computerized drug prescription system. The several - industrial and research - partners involved, cooperate to design, implement and evaluate the system with specific roles. The interface is seen as a separate and crucial component, since its validity is essential to insure that the system is acceptabl e to potential users. Therefore, a method is needed to specify all interaction aspects, so that partners can cooperate in refining the design until an agreement is reached. OPADE is going to be used by people having different roles within the drug therapy process, different types and level of knowledge in the domain, different familiarity with computers. In addition, users work in different countries and types of health services. Therefore, several aspects of interaction need to be adapted to the user characteristics: from physical features (screen colours, fonts,...) to cognitive ones (icons, metaphors, form of information presentation,...). Moreover, access to some of OPADE'S functions has to be restricted to specific classes of users and navigation among the functions available has to be
