Introduction to Joint ACM JETC/TODAES Special Issue on New, Emerging, and Specialized Technologies This issue of the ACM Journal of Emerging Technologies in Computing Systems (JETC) is a special issue on New, Emerging, and Special Technologies. In November 2006, the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD) devoted a special all-day track to papers focusing on new and emerging technologies. To highlight some of the work that was presented in this track, the ICCAD Executive Committee, in consultation with the Editorsin-Chief of JETC and the Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (TODAES), decided to include a selection of these papers from ICCAD 2006 as peer-reviewed articles in a special issue of JETC that was jointly organized by TODAES and JETC. Four articles on diverse topics related to emerging technologies were selected for inclusion in this issue. Please note that while this special issue has been jointly organized with TODAES, the actual articles will only appear in this issue of JETC. Following is a brief introduction to the four articles. The ï¬rst two articles focus on modeling issues. The article titled A Meshless, Spectrally Accurate, Integral Equation Solver for Molecular Surface Electrostatics by Kuo et al. presents
