EDUCATION FORU M International Efforts in Computer Science Educatio n ITiCS E Four and a half years ago a new computer science education conference was started Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE) . Scheduled in earl y summer during successive years in different European countries, ITiCSE complements th e larger Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education conference (a .k.a. the SIGCS E Symposium) held each year in late February or early March in a major U .S . city. ITiCSE, with its focus on the uses of technology in computer science education, has a narrower focu s than SIGCSE, which deals with all aspects of computer science education . Many Europeans ' attend the annual SIGCSE conference, but many who have an interest in computer scienc e education issues do not have the means to travel to the United States 2 . ITiCSE thus provides a European venue for the exchange of ideas related to computer science education . I have attended the two most recent ITiCSE Conferences last year in Krakow, Poland , and this year in Helsinki, Finland and have found them to be professionally rewarding, a s well as very helpful
