Australia only rarely enjoys an opportunity to host international conferences, being too many flight hours removed from the mainstream of research activities. However, at this year's annual conference, CHISIG tested one method for overcoming problems of distance. In an effort to add international flavour to the conference program, keynote speakers from outside Australia were deemed a necessary addition to the local content. Yet, operating on a shoestring budget, "importing" live speakers was well beyond our means.
