A critical challenge confronts the APL community: How to ensure a positive future for APL. While problems persist and effective actions remain to be taken, solutions can be found in education.Besides APL's acknowledged strengths and potential for growth (well-known to this audience), various deterrents are reviewed. Important educational issues are identified, and a summary report is given of the "APL in Education" workshop (held during APL92) where issues were discussed, goals clarified, strategies proposed, and action plans generated. The APL community is charged with carrying out the plans and disseminating results both internally (via APL Quote Quad, Vector, APL News, etc.) as well as internationally to prospective APL users.
