Although published in the Communications of the ACM, this paper is little more than a well written technical note. There is nothing earth shaking disclosed. There is merit in the use of this metric as another way to look at the same old data. dard", Proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Real-Time Ada Issues, Ada Letters Vol. X #4 (Spring 1990) 40. It's always hard to talk about Ada and Performance, much less real-time, with a straight face. But if you have more than a passing interest in Real-Time Ada then you might want to read this article. The strategy taken is to write a standard that is both a compiler writer's guide and a coding guide. Three example parts of a usage standard are provided. The first talks about the definition of restrictions on the use of certain Ada features which allow a smaller and faster version of the run-time system to be used. They are careful to point out that "These restrictions do not define a subset of Ada ...". (I love these guys!) The second part talks
