In the past students had been asked t o write a report on a social issue related t o the use of computers . In addition to the written report they were required t o present the issue in a tutorial session . The task was done individually and the y were expected to present a particula r point of view on the topic and the n generate discussion. In the main. the presentation was done poorly as man y students had no idea of how to generate discussion and they did not seem to b e able to successfully take a point of vie w on the chosen topic and argue its case .
