We all know that there is scarcely a business or government activity that hasn't been changedand made more effective-by computers and computing. By the year 2000, computing machines will play a very important part in many areas of our lives, and the quality of human life may depend on how well they are used. Yet, the computer field is now and has been for several years in a state of turmoil. problem areas are: a. It may very well continue for many more years. Perhaps only about 5 percent of the available computer power in the United States is being effectively used - 95 percent of it is wasted through misuse. Society's tendency to reject automation and especially the computer.
