CSAB Authorizes Visits to Test IS/IT Proposed Accreditation Criteria John T. Gorgone Computer InformationSystems Bentley College Waltham, Massachusetts02452-4705 USA ith National Science Foundation (NSF DUE09812278) support, ACM has teamed with Associate for Information Systems (AIS), IEEE-CS, CSAB, and industry representatives to develop a set of criteria for accrediting programs in information systems/science/technology. The criteria were developed using the format and basic form developed by the Computer Science Accreditation Commission. IS'97 (Model Curriculum and Guidelines for Undergraduate Degree Programs in Information System) and ISCC'99 (Information Systems Centric Curriculum '99) curriculum documents provided the foundation for the curriculum portion of the criteria. The draft IS criteria have been presented for discussion and feedback at seven conferences including: ¢ ACM's SIGCSE '99 & '00, ¢ Association for Information Technology Professional's (AITP) ISECON '99, ¢ AIS' Americas Conference for Information Systems '99, ¢ IEEE's Frontiers in Education '99, ¢ International Academy for Information Management's IAIM '99, and ¢ AIS' International Conference for Information Systems '99. This column presented the draft criteria in the June 1999 lnroads for your feedback. Responses were considered and the criteria revised. The curriculum area attracted the greatest interest.
