M E M B E R S AT WO R K Creation and Instruction Work Together Anna Ursyn, Ph.D. University of Northern Colorado In my daily experience, creating art works and teaching are inseparable and interlocking. These areas of my work influence and enhance one another. My artistic concerns and experiences relate both to art production and instruction, while communicating with students provides me with an audience and feedback. I believe in an interdisciplinary approach both for forming ideas in mind and in practice.At a speculative level, I draw inspiration for art by learning about scientific concepts and processes (such as in physical geology), as well as by broadening my knowledge while working on conference programs (such as the International Visualization Conference). I currently run the computer graphics program and combine my teaching with experimental research on the effects of a cross-disciplinary emphasis in teaching visual arts. Projects provoke students to think abstractly and then visually exploring how they comprehend and learn when they create art. Even a 2D image may contain a story to be visually read.
