Journals ACM SIGMETRICS Performance Evaluation Review Volume 17 Issue 2

A number of studies have confirmed the length dependent skewness of Halstead's Software Science length estimator. This paper examines the skewness for small Pascal programs. A new model developed by Nicholas Beser in 1983 corrects the length dependent skew. The parameters for this model as applied to small Pascal programs are obtained in the paper. Verification of the correction of skewness, along with a comparison of the variability of the two estimators, are also examined.
